Perhaps the Government would alter its postion if all members were required to "walk in the detainee's shoes" if only for a few days. The fear factor appears to have overidden any modicum of compassion, humanity or even common sense by the government. |

Baxter Detention Centre at least has been built to a design which considered too harsh to house Victorian prisoners when it was proposed for this state. And we lock up vulnerable people who have done no wrong in such conditions - shame! |

I feel ashamed to live in a country where refugees, men, women & children are kept behind razor wire. Sort it out, send them home or let them out.If you send them home, then their fate is on YOUR conscience.

We understand it's important to screen people as they enter the country, it is inhumane and unnecessary to detain people indefinitely. These people need our compassion. The current government is using asykum seekers to promote racism within our community. |
